The Reconquest of Glass, an initiative launched by Ecovidrio, a non-profit entity in charge of managing the recycling of glass containers in Spain, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana, the City of Ontinyent and the Society of Festeros del Santísimo Cristo de la Agonia, recover 6,500 kg of glass containers, equivalent to 24,700 containers, during the festivities of Moors and Christians in the containers assigned to the campaign.
This has meant an increase of 8.3% compared to 2017. With this figure, currently Ontinyent is placed in the eleventh position of the ranking, by recycling each festive 1.5 kg of glass containers, waiting to know the results of the rest of the participating populations.
On the other hand, the comparsa winner of the mini-glú draw and the batch of products packed in glass is the Moros Españoles.
The president of the Society of Festeros has said that “the Festival of Moors and Christians of Ontinyent is a Festival with international projection and it is because in addition to the antiquity and the spectacularity of their actions, our Party is committed to recycling and is respectful with the environment.” Vicent Pla, in addition to congratulating the troupe Moros Españoles and encouraging all the troupes to continue working on the same path, thanked Ecovidrio “with this gesture rewards the effort made to achieve more sustainable parties.”
