Data of interest
The Kábilas troupe has its origins in 1860, the founding year of the Ontinyent Moors and Christians festivities in honor of the Holy Christ of Agony. Although at the beginning they appeared under the name of “Moros del Rif”, it is in 1878 when they are already known under the current name of Kábilas. As a result of the initial name, for some time they were also known as Rifeños.
The clothing has undergone some changes over time, and there are currently two official dresses, the gala and the daily. The gala dress is composed of a white cape and gellab, with laces and tassels of the same color, white shoes, a red hat and a relicited leather bag. The newspaper is composed of gellab of any stripe other than that used by other troupes, green shoes, red hat and leather bag.
The troupe currently consists of 185 kábiles, with our official band being the Musical Instructional Band of Alfarrasí.
These years of history have produced spectacular captaincies and embassies. Seven Kabyles have led the Society of Festers accompanied by many others occupying various positions in different Governing Boards, twelve festival queens, daughters or granddaughters of Kabyles, as well as five criers.
