The Societat de Festers del Santíssim Crist de l’Agonia awards the Cervino Prize 2025 to Rafa Ferrero Terol
The Governing Board of the Societat de Festers del Santíssim Crist de l’Agonia has agreed to award the 2025 Cervino Prize to Rafa Ferrero Terol for his extensive and committed involvement with the Moors and Christians festivities of Ontinyent, both from cultural, organizational, and promotional perspectives.
The Cervino Prize is awarded annually to individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the promotion and preservation of the festivities. It bears the name of Joaquín José Cervino, author of the ambassador verses recited since 1860, which have been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Valencian Regional Government.
Rafa Ferrero, involved since childhood with the Benimerins troupe and currently an active member of the Mudéjares, has had an exemplary career. He is the author of pioneering books, the youngest herald of the festivities, former director of the Museu Fester, co-director of the official program-magazine, and served as president of the Societat de Festers (2007–2011), during which he launched several major initiatives including the 150th anniversary celebration and the recognition of the festival as an Event of National Tourist Interest.
He has also stood out in the field of research and promotion of Valencian textile heritage, as managing director of the Textile Museum Foundation of the Valencian Community, and has served as a herald and speaker in numerous festivals and cultural forums.
The award ceremony will take place at the Casino of the Societat de Festers on June 21, 2025.
