Continuing the collaboration begun last February during the visit of the Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, Marian Cano, the president of the Society of Festers, Ricardo Calabuig, met yesterday with the Regional Secretary for Tourism, José Manuel Camarero, to review preparations for the upcoming Moors and Christians Festivities in Ontinyent.
The meeting—held in a constructive atmosphere of full institutional harmony—set out the main management pillars that, year after year, ensure the success of celebrations declared Festivities of International Tourist Interest. Without delving into technical details, both parties agreed on the importance of coordinating efforts to preserve the cultural, heritage and economic value of these festivals.
“The international designation of our festivities helps position tourist destinations that preserve their culture, traditions and heritage,” emphasized Regional Secretary José Manuel Camarero.
For his part, president Ricardo Calabuig noted that “the Society of Festers is working hand in hand with the authorities to secure new forms of support that strengthen our work and that of the groups involved.”
The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain a technical agenda of forthcoming contacts that will, at the appropriate time, delve further into logistical and funding issues. The Society of Festers thanks the Regional Secretary for Tourism for his receptiveness and reiterates its willingness to keep pooling resources for the benefit of the festivities and of Ontinyent.
