Once again, Ontinyent will be filled with music, gunpowder, and color as the traditional “alardos” return to parade through the city streets on the weekend of July 26. This year, the troupes of Cruzados, Contrabandistas, Chanos, Benimerins, and Abencerrajes will march along San Antonio Street until they reach the Main Square, where the castle — the emblem of these festivities — will stand proudly, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Moreover, on Saturday, July 16 at midnight, there will be a very special parade to mark the 50th anniversary of the Mudéjares troupe. Starting from the intersection of Dos de Mayo Street and Martínez Valls, and proceeding to Plaza de la Concepción, this parade will serve as the opening event for festivities that this year debut their designation as a Festival of International Tourist Interest.
In this way, the traditional “alardos” once again turn Ontinyent into a unique stage where tradition and celebration come together, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy a festive atmosphere that grows each year in participation and reach.
